About Myoko Kogen

About Myoko Kogen

Myoko Kogen is nestled in the Niigata prefecture, just thirty kilometres off the west coast of Japan’s main island of Honshu, and just three hours by train from Tokyo. Located at the base of Myoko’s Akakura Kanko Ski Resort, Akakura is a snowy one-street village with bars and restaurants tucked around every corner to satisfy your culinary needs. Akakura’s close proximity to the Sea of Japan results in massive annual snowfalls of over 13m and an average base close to 4m. Mt Myoko provides spectacular views as well as hot volcanic water, which local hotels, lodges and ryokans use to fill their onsens. These onsens are extremely effective for rejuvenating sore legs after a day on the slopes.

If you’re looking for the renowned deep fluffy Japanese powder without the milling crowds of Hakuba and Niseko, or you simply want to enjoy a family holiday in a cute Japanese winter town, then Ski Myoko is the way to go. From the moment you arrive at the Myoko Kogen station, our experienced team will be ready and waiting to transfer you directly to your hotel.
